An outraged woman has branded her sister-in-law as greedy after getting charged a small fortune for spending Christmas at her house.
The lady in question, a mother-of-three, claimed that her family joined her husband and his wife in spending the festive season at her home from December 23 to December 26.
While the celebrations passed without a problem, the woman was stunned when she received an invoice for $240 from her sister-in-law following her return home.
As the mother-of-three insisted, the “hospitality charge” was unfair because she brought lots of food and drinks to the gathering while cooking the entire Christmas Eve dinner on her own.
“I understand that hosting 9 people is a lot but I hadn’t expected to be invoiced,” the woman wrote in her Mumsnet post.
“My husband wants to pay it to shut her up. I want to ask her to itemize it and to prepare an invoice in return for the hours I spent cooking Christmas dinner.”
The poster further explained: “We all stayed 23-26 December. We brought 2 joints of meat, a Christmas pudding, a Christmas cake, plenty of wine, beer, some gin and rum, some nice cheeses, kids’ snacks and drinks.
“There was one café lunch and one takeaway and we all paid for our own families. I paid for one top up shop of about $45. Everyone else paid for/brought similar things.”
After the woman’s post went viral, readers couldn’t believe the sister-in-law’s audacity saying the mother-of-three should create an invoice of her own and charge her brother’s wife for cooking for them and bringing all the food.
“Create your own invoice and send it back! How much did you spend and what is the going rate for a chef these days,” someone suggested.
“Omg that is so cheeky. Please ask for an itemized bill and send yours in return!” another added.
