Five family members – three children and two adults – were found dead in their home in what seems to be a murder-suicide.
Their dog was also found lifeless in the home on Wednesday morning.
When Elyria Police responded to the Ohio home at 8:11 am for a wellness check, they found five people and their family dog dead inside the home on Willow Park Road.
Officers are now investigating their deaths and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office will make the official ruling.
Sources said to WKBN that the deaths of the family members seemed to be a murder-suicide after neighbors heard two rounds of gunshots.
Neighbor Enetta Hubbard told News5Cleveland: “About 5.20 pm, I heard what sounded like firecrackers going off like ‘pop pop pop pop pop.’”
Hubbard added: “Like I tell everybody, I’m the nosy neighbor that watches everything but I didn’t see this. If I would’ve known, you know, I would’ve called yesterday.”
She also said that the man’s co-worker who owned the home showed up and asked her if she noticed any activity outside the house. When she said no, the man’s co-worker contacted the police.
“He said, ‘I see five shell casings at the front door. I’m calling the cops,’” Hubbard added.
The home was being investigated by Lorain County coroner’s office and Elyria Police.
“They went into the house and they started putting crime scene tape on it and they made us stand across the street,” Hubbard added.
Linda Bristow, another neighbor, said she heard ‘fireworks’ and children ‘screaming’ but did not expect the loud sounds to be gunshots.
According to The Courier Daily, officers said they discovered two splinter marks in the vinyl siding of the house.
