The news and social media are full of stories related to crime, murder, and racism.
We probably are going through the worst time in history and these days it is very rare to find inspiring stories that could make our day.
Fortunately, there are still selfless people on this earth and their actions always restore our faith in humanity.
Same is the story of this 34 years old homeless man, Anthony Porter, who returned gold and jewellery of worth £10,000 found on the road, saying that he doesn’t worship money.
It happened in the early morning of February 6th in a street near Cash Generator in Grimsby when two men arrived on a motorbike.
One of them get off the bike and started smashing the jewellery shop window with an axe while the other one was waiting for him on the bike to finish his job.
Anthony was sitting a few meters away from this place and when he saw a man trying to rob the shop, he stood up to catch the robber. Meanwhile, the staff of the shop also rushed to confront the assailant, but they couldn’t catch him as he ran off on the bike.
Anthony was there to help the staff too and it was that moment that he saw a haul of £10,000 in gold fell out when the robber was smashing the window.
Anthony took the gold and handed over to the staff making them so surprised. When they asked him why he didn’t run away with the jewellery, he said, “I do not worship money”.
When the shop owner, David James, came to know about this incident, he was so impressed by the honesty of the homeless man that he awarded him a cell phone along with some money for his honesty.
Indeed stories like these restore my faith in humanity.
