You might have heard the famous quote, “A sister is God’s way of proving he doesn’t want us to walk alone.
” Whether you agree or not, but trust me on this, being a sister comes along with a huge responsibility.
They are the care-takers of us when our parents aren’t around and they won’t let anything bad happen to us if they are beside us.
This story of 9-years old Lexie Jackson, who was suffering from Cerebral Palsy, is proof that sisters are our best guardians after our parents. Little Lexie took the responsibility to protect his younger brother despite the fact that she couldn’t talk or even walk. Yet, what she did was so brave and amazing, that the story will make you go hug your sisters for all the love they give you.
Earlier this month, Lexie was in her home, tied to a wheelchair when she saw her 18 months old baby brother, Leeland, sneaking out of the door and falling into the pool. Their mother was not around and Lexie knew she is the only one who could save her brother and she has to do something quick.
Lexie’s mother was also not around.
She was preparing for Lexie’s birthday party which was happening the very same day. This must be very terrifying moment for Lexie as she knew that it’s only her who has to do something as Leeland is in danger.
Poor girl wanted to stand and rush towards the pool but she couldn’t so what she did next was something that saved the toddler’s life. She started screaming with so much noise that it got the attention of her grandmother, Nancy. When grandma came downstairs to know what happened, she noticed that Lexie was pointing towards the pool and it was that moment Nancy realized that the kid wasn’t with her. Nancy rushed towards the pool and was able to lift up the toddler.
Kelly, Lexie’s mother also told the local news agency, “All of a sudden, I’m upstairs and I hear her screaming like bloody murder. We’ve never heard her scream like that.”
Thanks to Lexie’s quick thinking and her brave action that her little baby brother was saved. The whole community is so thankful to her for her bravery and she also received the “Act of Bravery award” from the Halifax Regional Police.
