Raising your pets is really a fun job.
For most of the times, they are not just cute little animals, but you get so attached to them that you end up considering them as part of your family.
Your love and care for them grow to that extent that you’d want to try giving them a fresh look too, just like you do a new haircut or try dying your hair to a different color.
But a recent incident has proved that not all the things we human do or eat translate well for dogs. For example, we recently posted an article about an unfortunate incident where a dog lost both his kidneys after eating a few bites of brownies.
In the same way, a pet owner thought to dye his Pomeranian’s ears bright red but unfortunately ended up losing both of his ears.
This incident happened in Hua Hin, Thailand where a girl decided to give her puppy friend, Diffy, a different look. She took him to a grooming salon and asked the groomer to dye the puppy’s ear dark red.
According to Metro, the dying process took almost 40 minutes and after the process was finished, Diffy was looking very cute. She was hopeful that the color on his ears will stay there for the next few weeks and after that she’d want to try a new color but unfortunately things didn’t go as planned.
Just after a few minutes, Diffy started to lose his ears where normally they were perky. Metro approached the groomer and he told that everything would become normal. Groomer also said that the ears will have their perkiness back in 2-3 days. But it didn’t happen. Diffy’s skin started to turn red and his ears turned flaky.
It was that time when Metro posted his story on the internet seeking help from other pet owners. She posted, “Before the dye, my dog’s ears were up. But after I went to the pet store and the dog stylist colored his ear with aluminum foil for 40 minutes without heat, I took him home and his ears turned out like this.”
She asked people if anyone has experienced this situation before with their pets.
Although some people tried to comfort her saying that the ears would be back in normal shape in a few days but later on Metro posted, “Diffy’s left ear is now falling off because of the color dye.The pet groomer put too much dye on him.
My dog’s ear was itchy, burnt, turned black, cracked, and eventually fell off. ”She even posted a picture after Diffy’s ear had fallen off.
Lots of people were criticizing the groomer for putting too much dye but Metro said it was her choice and she blames herself for trying out this thing without doing any research.
Neeyada Sirisampandh, who runs a dogs rescue organization in Bangkok and was one of the many readers of her story, says, “Let this be a lesson to other dog owners.”
