A 25-year-old unnamed woman has hit the headlines after giving birth to septuplets, including one boy and six girls, in a single, natural birth.
Despite the potential dangers associated with such a rare delivery, both the children as well as their mother are in “perfect condition.”
The amazing delivery, which took place at a hospital in Diyala Province, is thought to be the first septuplet case in Iraq.
Following the arrival, the local health department’s spokesperson, Firas Al Izzawi, released a statement and claimed that all babies are “perfectly healthy.”
Just last year, another mother made the headlines after giving birth to sextuplets in Lebanon. All children were born healthy and in natural birth.
The woman’s partner, Youssef Fadl, spoke out after the delivery and explained that they weren’t planning on having any more children since they have already had 10 before the sextuplets were born.
Another incredible birth story took place in Britain last summer. Parents beat the 1 in 200 million odds and gave life to identical triplets.
“I was excited to be having one baby, but in the scan, the doctor picked up two heartbeats and then the third one. One little egg had created three miracles,” the triplets’ 31-year-old mother, Sian Williams, said.
“The doctors told us they were identical and the odds of that happening without fertility drugs was one in 200 million.
“We were completely speechless and stunned. At our 15-week scan, we found out we were expecting three girls.”
While raising triplets is no easy job, the parents wouldn’t trade their two girls and a boy for anything.
“It is pure bliss watching them grow. Of course it’s hard work but we love every minute of it,” Sian added.
“We’ve swapped our Mercedes for a sensible family Land Rover – it is much easier to fit in three baby car seats.”
