A woman with 234 great-great-grandchildren was pictured embracing her 7-month-old great-great-great-grandchild.
98-year-old MaeDell Taylor Hawkins is a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother from Kentucky.
In a captivating photo the large family shared on Facebook, six generations of women could be posing for a photo next to each other along with one of the family’s youngest members, Zhavia Whitaker.
The photo was allegedly taken in February after the family was finally able to arrange a visit at MaeDell’s care home so that the elderly lady could meet Zhavia.
“We thought this was special because it’s all girls,” Gracie Snow Howell, MaeDell’s granddaughter, said.
The family also revealed that MaeDell got married to a 50-year-old man when she was just 16 back in 1940. The man reportedly already had ten children from his previous relationship, meaning the young lady became an instant mother of ten.
In the years that followed, MaeDell’s husband was often away from home for work. Nevertheless, the couple managed to welcome 13 children of their own throughout the decades.
“I know she had it hard, but she didn’t complain,” Gracie said of her grandmother’s life in an interview with People as she explained that MaeDell barely had any money or essentials in her life.
As it happens, the matriarch’s sacrifices haven’t passed by unnoticed, whereas the tight-knit family remains connected despite its massive size consisting of 106 grandchildren, 222 great-grandchildren, 234 great-great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-great-grandchildren.
“If everything goes well, the baby’s doing well, Grandma’s doing well – we’re all going to meet back in June and get another picture,” Gracie added as the family prepares for MaeDell’s 99th birthday.
