Senior Police Officer Austin Williams responded to Sam’s Club in Provo, Utah, on July 24.
Suddenly, a man came attacked Officer Williams and tried to take his gun.
The police department shared Officer Williams’ bodycam footage, which captured the unnamed good man approaching the suspect.
A couple of bystanders quickly swarmed the man, and one man grabbed him from behind and slammed him to the ground.
“Thanks, guys,” Williams said as he handcuffed the man.
Later the man was identified as Emiliano Medina, 34.
Officer Williams told Fox13: ‘’I was like holy cow that was NFL hardest hits kind of stuff.’’
‘’I tried to trip him and put him on the ground and as soon as he went down he pushed back up and at that point was able to pull away from my grasp.’’
‘’Right as he’s catching up to the guy, another guy comes around and kind of gets in his way and shoulder checks him and stops him.’’
The police department added: ‘’Chief Ferguson wants to thank that person for coming to the aid of an officer in need.’’
‘’We take pride in serving and protecting in Provo so we are grateful to the unknown person who returned the favour and helped us safely take a dangerous person into custody.’’
Medina is facing charges, including assaulting an officer.
