The police have released the first photos of a newborn baby who was found by a hero dog after he was dumped in a park.
On Thursday last week, the authorities launched an investigation after a newborn baby boy, who was presumed to be just hours old at the time of his finding, was discovered at The Mounds in Kings Norton, England.
According to the local reports, the baby was found by 64-year-old Terry Walsh and his dog, Hel, who uncovered the newborn wrapped in a blanket while walking around the park with her owner.
After the baby was taken to a local hospital, the staff took good care of him and named him George due to his discovery just ahead of St George’s Day.
Meanwhile, the police have released photos of the baby boy and launched a manhunt on the person who dumped the baby at the park.
Since the discovery, the authorities have reviewed security footage and found out that a girl, who is presumably a teenager or in her early 20s, was walking near the area where the baby was found around the time of the incident.
Addressing the baby’s mother, Detective Inspector Neil Hunt said he knew “how overwhelming becoming a parent can be” as he urged the young woman to turn herself in so they can make sure she’s okay.
“I am reaching out to George’s mother. You are my primary concern right now, and we really need to make sure you’re okay,” Hunt said.
“I don’t know the circumstances around George’s birth but, as a parent myself, I know exactly how overwhelming becoming a parent can be.”
The authorities have since also confirmed that little George will go into foster care once he is given the green light by the hospital.
