Dogs are extremely loyal, sometimes too much for their own good.

This poor pit bull in Michigan was heartlessly abandoned by his family that was moving out of the neighborhood. In the front of the house, they left some of their things that they didn’t want anymore, including their dog!

The pit bull lived on the family’s former mattress for an entire month before he was rescued.

A neighbor, named Liz Marie, was alarmed when she discovered the dog, so she contacted Mike Diesel, founder of Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, who soon came to the dog’s aid.

He said:

“So, I walked out of the house a couple minutes later and drove to him. He was being as loyal as a dog always is. That could’ve been the mattress he slept on with his owner. That smell was probably still there.”

Diesel didn’t know the dog’s name, so he asked the Internet for new name suggestions.point 228 |

People responded immediately to the pit bull’s photos, and Diesel took the advice of some people who suggested that Oliver name the dog Boo, because of the spotting on the side of his body that resemble the letters “b-o-o.point 196 | point 203 | 1

At first, Boo absolutely would not leave the mattress, in hopes of seeing his family again. But Diesel stayed with him and helped the dog trust other humans again, finally leaving the mattress.

“He’s awesome. He’s 100 percent pit bull; he’s forgiving, loving, trusting. His whole lovable personality has come out.”

While Diesel was taking care of Boo, he posted a photo of the beautiful pit bull, which went viral after a neighbor, the same one who had reported to Diesel about Boo, shared it. In her post she wrote:
