Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has managed to ignite controversy again as he shared a cringe-worthy clip of himself hydrofoiling with the American flag on the 4th of July.
Zuckerberg wished his fans and followers with a post that came with a caption mentioning ‘Happy 4th’ as he could be seen holding the US flag as wakeboards.
The Facebook CEO who is worth around $128 billion is infamous for being the center of meme-worthy situations and this one is certainly no exception. Moreover, the shocking Independence Day post was viewed by nearly 470,000 people, within a span of just 3 hours since it was really posted.
While the video is awfully short, ringing in at about one minute, it was certainly referred to as cringeworthy as it was posted on Zuckerberg’s Instagram account.
Here, viewers could see him gliding through the water waves on a surfboard that is electronically programmed while he held the US flag. In addition, the famous tune of John Denver’s song ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads,’ could also be heard in the background.
According to the website that manufactured such surfing gadgets, a whole setup of eFoil costs around $4000 and may go up to $12,000 with only two major brands dealing in its supply.
With the video comes a long series of comments by viewers who mocked the Facebook CEO while criticizing the billionaire along the way for his appalling publicity stunt.
The head for Instagram’s platform mentioned how the site is no longer just a photo-sharing application as the tech giant tried his best to compare it to the likes of TikTok as well as YouTube.
On the other hand, another viewer hilariously commented how he wished he could get John Denver back to life so that he could go about suing Mark for all of this. Yikes, it seems like not too many were impressed with Zuckerberg’s poor attempt at modern patriotism. Don’t you agree?
