Activists Proposed A Multi-Billion Plan For Building A Rent-Free City For The Homeless

A group of activists from California have come up with a one-of-a-kind plan that proposes the development of a multi-billion private city that would provide homeless people of the state with free accommodation and basic amenities.

As Citizens Again suggested, there are around 150,000 homeless people in the state and their $3 billion project could see them all off the streets.

According to the group’s press release, “it’s time to think differently to solve the homelessness crisis: instead of building 4,000 more shelters, Citizens Again is crowdfunding to build 1 city, catering towards America’s entire chronic adult homeless population, and it will be quicker and cost billions less than current efforts.point 534 |

The group’s revolutionary plan proposes the construction of a 300-acre city that would not only provide the homeless with rent-free dorms but also a common hospital, a job training center, and eateries.

As Founder Daune Nason claimed, the Citizens Again’s plan is much more efficient than the plans presented by the government.

“Based on the government’s placement rate from the last ten years, it will take close to 200 years to create enough shelters to house the 90,000 unsheltered chronic homeless adults. Nobody wants to wait that long,” Mr. Nason said.

“I’ve looked at a couple of different locations in California. It’s going to have to be in a moderate climate, probably somewhat of a flatland. I’m going to need about 300 acres,” he added in an interview with Good Day Sacramento.

While the founder of the activist group claimed their idea was indeed an “ambitious project,” he believes that it is executable and that it would bring in a ton of benefits.

“Definitely it’s an ambitious project. There’s never been anything like this in the history of the country. This is going to be very something very massive. It’s going to require a lot of people to work together on this,” Nason added.
