Soldiers make the ultimate sacrifice so they deserve to be honored and remembered.
It is also our duty to help the family members they have left behind, and a famous actor makes sure to spend some time doing that.
Gary Sinise, best known for playing a disabled war veteran in the film Forrest Gump, helps families of fallen war veterans.
He even treated more than 1,700 children of fallen soldiers to Disneyland through his charity that helps not only heroes but also their families.
Sinise established the Gary Sinise Foundation that focuses on helping families of heroes. His foundation also helps defenders of the country and first responders.
It was in 2017 when the foundation began the ‘snowball express’ program which helps the children of fallen war veterans go to Disney World.
The popular actor said: “While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more.”
Thanks to his foundation, more than 1,750 children got to experience a five-night stay at magical Disney World.
In an interview with CBS Los Angeles, Sinise said: “The most important thing about [Snowball Express] is that these children don’t feel alone. There’s a lot of healing and a lot of bonding and a lot of friendship that goes on that helps them through the rest of the year.”
The foundation also places a red flag on every trip they take children on in honor of the fallen war veterans. During their trip to Disney World, there were around 600 flags to honor soldiers, first responders, and also their families.
This is so inspiring! The world needs more people like Sinise.
