Actor Max Von Sydow Passed Away At The Age Of 90


Swedish actor Max von Sydow, born Carl von Sydow, has passed away at the age of 90 after a long and successful career during which he appeared in more than one hundred movies and TV series.

Mr. Sydow was born in 1929 in Lund, Sweden, and has greatly influenced the 20th-century movie scene by appearing in several classics including hits such as The Greatest Story Ever Told and The Seventh Seal.

After hitting his 70s and 80s, Max von Sydow remained very active whereas he appeared in mainstream hits such as The Simpsons, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“It is with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max von Sydow on March 8, 2020,” wife Catherine von Sydow shared with Paris Match after the legendary actor’s passing.

Following the 90-year-old’s death, thousands of fans have paid a tribute to the actor online.

“RIP Max Von Sydow. I was starting to think he would live forever, but he certainly has achieved screen immortality. An absolute king of cinema, from THE SEVENTH SEAL to STRANGE BREW, what a legend,” someone wrote on Twitter.

“Rest in peace legend, you’ve done your part and changed the movie scene forever with your contributions to more than a hundred hits,” another one expressed.

Someone wrote: “Max von Sydow was possibly the most understated actors there is. He’s one of the all time greats, from his collaborations with Bergman in The Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries to Scorsese and Allen works with Shutter Island and Hannah and Her Sisters.”
