Archer and Arrested Development star Jessica Walter has reportedly passed away in her sleep at the age of 80.
For decades, Jessica entertained us with her remarkable performance and went on to add over 160 credits to her name according to IMDb.
Her death was confirmed by her publicist who revealed that Walter died in her sleep at her New York City home on Wednesday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica,” Brooke Bowman, the Hollywood icon’s daughter, expressed in a statement.
“A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”
Walter was born in Brooklyn back in 1941. After attending the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and The High School of Performing Art and showing off her skills in the theater, Walter kicked off her on-screen career by making a movie debut in 1964’s Lilith.
Since then, the aspiring actress appeared in a series of successful classics including Play Misty for Me, Grand Prix, Law & Order, and The Group.
In later years, she also secured roles in a series of prominent hits such as Arrested Development, Archer, Anything Goes, and Jennifer Falls.
“Jessica Walter’s spectacular turn as the devilish Lucille Bluth is one of the great comedic performances of television history, and we loved working with her as much as audiences loved her on ‘Arrested Development,’” 20th Television wrote in a tribute to the deceased star.
“Jessica was a consummate professional, an actor’s actor, and the exact opposite of Malory Archer — warm, caring, and kind, with an absolutely cracking sense of humor — and it was both a privilege and a true honor to work with her over these many years,” Archer creator Adam Reed expressed.
Meanwhile, Walter’s Arrested Development co-actor David Cross branded the Hollywood legend as a “brilliant actress” with an “amazing talent.”
“I consider myself privileged and very lucky to have been able to work with her. Lucille Bluth is one of TV’s greatest characters,” he said.
