There have been protesters that occupied the Odeon Theatre in Paris for more than over a week as a call-to-action for more support towards the arts from the French government.
One of their public figures, Corinne Masiero, is an actress who staged herself naked during an awards show as the country calls on the government for more support.
During the Cesar Awards, think of the Oscars in the United States, was in the midst of announcing the winner for the best costume design category. Connie Masiero appeared in a bloodied donkey costume, for those who don’t know, is a reference to a French fairytale before stripping naked in protest.
What is written on her body can be translated to: “No culture, no future.” Another statement on her back had translated to “Give us back art, Jean.” which is a direct statement to the Prime Minister of France, Jean Castex.

The fight for the arts is not over yet: actors, musicians, and artists are infuriated with the fact that their own government is unwilling to set a date for the reopening of concert halls, cinemas, museums, and galleries.
Manna Fois, a comedian who was hosting the awards ceremony, tells the government in a direct manner, “They cooped up our youngsters, closed our cinemas and theatres and banned concerts so that they could open churches, because we’re a secular country, so that old people could go to church.”
Other protestors for the arts have occupied Paris’s Odeon Theatre, and it has past a week since they’ve began. They are fighting for their rights for cultural venues to reopen, asking for financial support for the youth in France.
Cesar Awards winner for best screenplay with The Girl With Bracelet, Stephanie Demoustier, tells sources, “My daughter can go to Zara but not the cinema. It’s incomprehensible.”
