Sometimes, real life story can be more dramatic than what we would see in a movie.
Jennifer’s story is something like that. When reading about Jennifer’s life, I guarantee that you’ll be surprised more than once.
Jennifer Bricker was born without legs. Because of her birth defect, her biological parents gave her up for adoption on the day she was born.
Fortunately, Jennifer was adopted by Sharon and Gerald who lived in Illinois. Growing up, she was treated like everyone else. Her parents loved and supported her throughout everything, and they believed that she could do anything if she tried hard enough.
In fact, the only word that she was not allowed to say was – “can’t.”

When she was just a child, Jennifer told her parents that she wanted to be a gymnast. While others might have discouraged her, telling her that it would be physically impossible, Jennifer’s parents supported her.
Her childhood hero was a legendary gymnast named Dominique Moceanu, and Jennifer worked hard to become just like her hero.
Amazingly, Jennifer finally became the tumbling champion in the state of Illinois.
But, this isn’t the end of this remarkable story.
One day, Jennifer asked her parents about her biological family. She wanted to know if she had any biological siblings, and where she had come from.
What she heard from her mother was beyond what she had imagined.

Her mother said that Jennifer’s last name would’ve been Moceanu.
That meant that Jennifer was actually related to her childhood hero, Dominique Moceanu.
In fact, it turned out that Dominique was Jennifer’s older sister.
Completely shocked at this news, Jennifer decided to send Dominique a letter explaining everything. She also put in her adoption paperworks.
When Dominique received this letter, she was also blown away by the news. She had no idea that she had another sister.
In the interview with the New York Post, Dominique said, “I had a sister and I never even knew it. It was the Moceanu gene for sure. The features, the tones in her voice, her handwriting, the way we laugh and chuckle. It’s mind-blowing.”
Apparently, Jennifer would’ve been the middle child of three sisters – if she had not been put for adoption at birth. Even though this discovery was hard to take for everyone involved, this surprising news nevertheless brought joy as well. Now that she discovered her biological family, Jennifer has reconnected and reunited with them.
What a surprise! I can’t even imagine how Jennifer and Dominique would’ve felt when they first heard about the news.
