Aaron Oliver started breeding American Bullies in the UK six years ago. Dios and two of his pups stay at Oliver’s home in Halifax. One is named Flocki, 18 months old, and Lou, a two-year-old female.
Dios is prized because of his pups are all lookalikes of his.
Aaron said: “We got Dios in 2014 from Spain from Vipeon Bullys. His temperament for me is the best temperament you could have in a dog: friendly just wants to be loved all the time, licks you. He is a babe really, he is priceless. He’s a big part of the family”
He continued: “Dios was the first Lilac Bully to come to England in 2014.
“And yeah, basically he is a bit of a legend really, but most of all he is my best friend.”
The puppies who take after Dios’s incredible physique are priced in the thousands, averaging around $3,500.
Aaron explained: “He is very resembling producing dogs that are like himself.
“We have people waiting for pups out of selected breedings. We’re very careful on who we sell the dogs to, we do family checks because we want them to go to homes for life, we don’t want to just get them passed around. We take pride in what we breed. Producing wise, Dios is probably one of the best in England for producing dogs that look to his appearance.”
Aaron adds that because of the excellent genes of American Bullies, they do not need any special training.
He said: “We only exercise him like 10 minutes a day, all of it is just out of genetics. No matter what you do with him he will still look like a fitness freak. All my dogs eat what a human would eat – if I won’t eat it, my dogs won’t eat it.”
Kobi James Collins, Oliver’s nephew, drops in every so often to help look after the dogs.
Kobi said: “Dios is my favorite dog. It’s just… it’s how big he is. When I first saw Dios I was surprised how big he was. I’m a huge fan of American Bullies because of their size.”
Talking about the dogs’ personalities, Oliver said: “Dios’s is laid back, he’s more of a lazy American Bully, he likes to just chill out, go for a little walk, sit in front of the fire.
“Flocki and his sister want to be running around 24/7, walk, jump, run, have five minutes rest and then they’re back up again.”
Either way, for Oliver, the dogs are part of his family.
He said: “We did receive a six-digit offer for Dios and we just said no. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Dios. He is priceless.”
Oliver adds that despite their intimidating appearance, American Bullies actually have a reputation for being gentle and are excellent companions.
He said: “100% the American bully is the ultimate companion breed from any other dog that I’ve ever owned. The American bully for me is the best one out there for a family and probably there’s no other breed than the American bully.”
