Adorable Labrador puppy who was born with six legs is a happy dog that hops around like a kangaroo to get wherever she needs to be.
Roo the Pup surprised her breeders after she was born with an extra set of two front legs.
The pooch was taken in by 33-year-old Lauren Salmon from Kent, UK, who bought the puppy after her son, 15-year-old Luke, saw her online and immediately fell in love with her.
Since now-eight-week-old Roo has troubles walking on all four, the family revealed she gets around by hopping like a kangaroo, hence her name Roo the Dog.
“When she jumps up on us she looks like a kangaroo, hence the name. But when she walks, she sorts of staggers on her elbows with her bum in the air, like an army crawl,” Lauren said.
“It’s sad but it’s cute at the same time because she is so full of energy.”
As Ms. Salmon admitted, she bought the pup because she was afraid that her breeders would put her down due to her disability.
“We absolutely love Roo to pieces. She’s is just a normal dog to us – just with a couple of extra bits. Her special legs don’t cause her any pain, and it’s easy to see just how full of life she is,” she added.
“She’s full of puppy energy, so we’d describe her as placid but playful. There are not many dogs like Roo out there and think the breeders kill them off because they’re not worth anything, but to us she’s priceless.”
According to the mother, her son is a “protective father” who fell in love with Roo as soon as he first saw her.
“It was love at first sight for Luke and for Roo from then on. Luke is like a protective father. They never leave each other’s sides and she even sleeps in his bed,” Lauren said, adding how her 15-year-old son is often bullied because he suffers from psoriasis.
“Luke feels like the odd one out because of his condition, and now he’s got a best friend to match. I think Roo will reduce Luke’s stress and that should help his skin.”
