The sudden inundation is destroying cities and villages all across the world, from South Korea’s southern provinces, the consecutive hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico area to the Parwan province of Afghanistan.
The already war-and-terrorist-worn nation has suffered a minimum of 86 deaths, total casualty starting from 200. This was officially announced by Rahmatullah Haidari, deputy spokesman for the governor of the province. The downpour has done nothing but totally destroy the province, near the capital Kabul, with houses and vehicles submerged or destroyed beyond repair. The casualties may reach higher stats, according to Parwan provincial spokeswoman Waheeda Shakar. 1,500 houses north of the capital Kabul had been destroyed, while many people remain missing.
A ministry of disaster management spokesman said floods had also affected eight of the country’s northern provinces. The spokesman said climate change was worsening the flooding hitting the country.

Rescue workers sifted through the wreckage, as many residents were believed to be trapped under collapsed homes. One hospital reported receiving 78 bodies and 105 wounded people. The death toll in the city was expected to rise.
The flooding is just the latest blow for Afghanistan, which has been ravaged by the coronavirus and bloodied by Taliban attacks across the country since a Feb. 29 peace agreement between the United States and the insurgent group.
