A car fell into a huge sinkhole in the aftermath of Storm Ciara in Essex.
It is important here to note that homes were evacuated on a residential road in the locality where Ciara wreaked havoc.
Moreover, the car, a Toyota fell completely in the sinkhole. The images depicted that the driver and passenger doors were wide open which caused the airbags to inflate.
If recent reports are to be believed, the car was being driven on the road where the sinkhole opened up. However, it is said that the driver escaped unhurt.
In this context, it is interesting to note that the firefighters were ushered into the Hatch Road after reports emerged that there is the collapse of the sewer.
Moreover, as per the local authorities, it came to the fore that six properties have been evacuated in the morning hours due to unstable ground.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that they heard a loud bang when the sinkhole appeared. However, they thought that a fence panel had popped out at first. But when they came out of their houses, they were surprised to see the sinkhole with a car inside it.
It is noteworthy here to mention that the process of removing the vehicle took an enormous amount of time. However, highway traffic management played their roles to perfection so that traffic snarls can be avoided.
Storm Ciara brought heavy rainfall in just 24 hours. Gusts of winds caused significant damage to the residential and commercial properties located in its path.
A large number of people were left without power. Moreover, a lot of homes were evacuated and damaged beyond repair. So it remains to be seen how soon things can become normal.
