Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson is now 16 and she’s showing the world who she really is by opening up like never before.
From drugs and body shaming to having no friends because of trust issues, the child star is proving to so many people that’s she’s growing up and isn’t the same child star that people have gone on to love.
“I want to be called out by my real name,” she adds. It’s quite clear from her recent posts that this young woman is very keen on shedding that girlhood identity.
“I’d just like to inform you all that my mother did not name me Honey Boo Boo. My real name is Alana, it’s Alana Thompson,” she went on to add boldly.
Speaking for a recent interview in Teen Vogue, Alana kept it very real. She spoke about how she has gained so much, ever since she received all that fame internationally.
For those who may not be aware, the child star was a prominent cast member of Toddlers and Tiaras, which launched in 2012. And while she used to proudly embrace that name in the past, she now is doing anything and everything possible to steer clear from it. For those asking why, well, the answer is pretty simple.
She doesn’t like the fact that people continue to hold so many expectations relating to her. “They always seem to make me want to embrace rambunctious,” she went on to claim. Clearly, this young teen is trying hard to let the world know that she’s lost her southern charm.
“So many people believe that I’m super-rich.
It makes my life at high school so much more difficult,” she added.Meanwhile, the star also spoke about how she never gets why people tend to body shame her, time and time again.
“I know I have a little extra meat but why should you spread so much hate for that,” she questioned. However, she’s pretty close to her blood relatives and she confirmed just that. But the star did shed light on how her mum lost guardianship for being arrested for substance abuse. “People don’t realize that life is tough and I try really hard to put on a strong face,” she emotionally explained.
Today, Alana is stronger than ever, conquering her fears and practicing self-love like never before. She’s quite content with the way she’s living and is loving life by dealing with it on her own terms.
