An Aldi shopper has shared a heartbreaking incident that they witnessed during the coronavirus panic buying.
An unnamed Aldi shopper took to Facebook to tell that when they were in a very long line at Aldi with their daughter to buy bananas, they noticed an elderly man who was doing his weekly shopping.
The elderly man told them he had been to two supermarkets already before Aldi to find basic food items but couldn’t find anything due to the coronavirus panic buying.
The elderly man looked confused and stressed as he was unable to buy basic food items due to the coronavirus panic buying.
This broke the unnamed Aldi shopper’s heart and the shopper pleaded: “Please use common sense before you follow the hordes and start stocking up ‘because everyone else is.'”
The shopper said people who have a small weekly budget for groceries and can not buy in bulk will be most affected by this bulk buying.
The post read: “There are people out there who cannot afford to shop in bulk and have a small weekly budget for groceries.”
“There are people who have limited mobility and can only shop once a week or fortnight when they have a carer with them.”
The shopper went on to say that vulnerable people and people with low income are being affected by people who are ‘selfishly clearing the shelves.’
The shopper called it selfish and awful that we have lost the ability to think ‘beyond our own situations.’
The shopper urged everyone to look after one another in order to have enough food and water for everyone.
The post concluded: “There are the people who are affected by people selfishly clearing the shelves. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you are doing the right thing”.
“If everyone just calms down, and looks after each other there will be enough food and water and BLOODY TOILET PAPER for everyone.”
