The harsh criticism came as a New York Time column penned by Ben Smith, which was first released on May 17th.point 321 |

Smith argued in his column titled “Is Ronan Farrow Too Good To Be True?” that Farrow made allegations in his works that he had failed to corroborate or confirm in his reporting.point 158 | 1

Smith went so far as to argue that Farrow has brought in a new era of journalism where speculation and accusation lacking concrete evidence has become the new norm in the #MeToo era. While online reception of the column has been mostly negative, some supported Smith’s general thesis.

In an interview that The Telegraph released on Friday, Allen referred to the piece without explicitly mentioning that it has now been revealed how Farrow was not always honest or ethical in the way he wrote the famed pieces.

Farrow won the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for the piece on movie industry giant Harvey Weinstein. As a result of Farrow’s revelation, Weinstein was formally expelled from Hollywood as well as being sentenced to prison. He has currently been sentenced to 23 years for two separate accounts of sexual assault.

The journalist has also accused his father for sexually abusing his sister and Allen’s daughter Dylan Farrow back in 1992. Allen has vehemently denied the allegations that he had abused his adoptive daughter, and said that Farrow was simply being loyal to his mother.

Allen also alluded to this allegation in the same interview with The Telegraph. The director said that while he already knew that Farrow was not always honest with his work because Farrow twisted the stories about him, Allen said he thought that was because his son harbored anger towards him.

However, according to Allen, he can no longer support or say that his son is doing a good job after it has been revealed that the journalist has been treating other subjects with the dishonesty he was treated with.
