Greta Thunberg, who gave a soul-awakening speech at the UN Climate Summit, has been rewarded with an “Alternative Nobel Prize” for her incredible work on climate change.
The radical speech that has awakened the senses of many officials has bagged Greta more than £83,000.
The teenage environmentalist, Greta Thunberg’s name was listed among the four winners of Right Livelihood Award which is popularly known as Alternative Nobel Prize.
The award is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year that marked the celebration of Greta’s success as well.
According to the reports, the four laureates will be rewarded with a cash award of one million Swedish Krona (£83,000)
The other winners along with Greta were Aminatou Haida from Western Sahara, Guo Jianmei from China, and Davi Kopenawa/Hutukara Yanomami Association from Brazil.
Each winner has been rewarded for different causes that have brought a change in society. The 16-year-old Greta has been rewarded for inspiring and awakening everyone for the urgency of climate change and strict actions to be taken to save the environment.
Right Livelihood Foundation mentioned in a statement that Thunberg is the powerful and stern voice of youth that needs to be heard or the entire mankind will bear the consequences.
Greta commented on her big win by saying that she shares this prize with several other people who have joined and supported her in the cause.
She further mentioned that she is not the real winner; she is just a representative of global school children who is working towards saving our environment for the future generation.
Greta Thunberg has been dominating news headlines since her inspiring, and furious speech at the UN Climate Change Summit addressed to the adults who are neglecting the evident signs of climate change.
