Two amateur golf players took their love for golf to a whole new level by converting a car into a moving golf range.
Their creation is an oddly perfect thing. The driving range they have made even has a tee on the roof, made of synthetic turf.
The man behind this one-of-a-kind creation is 27-year-old John Imrie, and the assistance he needed for it was provided by his 31-year-old buddy, Kurt.
They initially modified the car to their own specifications for a road trip through Europe and on their return, they got the idea.
The most noticeable thing in this whole project is that none of the two men is qualified to alter cars. John has an administrative position in a company while Kurt is an interior designer.
Nonetheless, the two have done quite a job!
Talking about their ‘creation,’ John said: “The idea came about when we were on a Road Trip around Europe.
“We had turned the car into a boy racer, we made it look utterly repulsive and took it around 12 countries in 11 days to film videos for our YouTube channel.
“We took some golf clubs with us and were always looking for places to tee off from. This was when we came up with the genius – or ridiculous – idea to turn the little car into a driving range.”
He added: “With Kurt’s job being what it is, he took the lead on the construction parts of the car, like the roof supports, and I took the lead on the mechanical aspects.
“The rest was a team effort. We have previously done a lot of work to this car and we are rapidly learning as we go a lot more than we knew before, learning how to change brakes, service the car and so on.”
What should be the next step once you have a car with turf on top? These golf lovers are planning to take their creation to the North Coast 500, the Scottish version of Route 66.
That is a scenic road running through Scotland and spans over 500 miles. That’s the only place, we think, in Europe to hit golf balls off the top of a car.
John said: “We have had no issues in the car so far and everyone who we have met along the way has found the car hilarious.
“It certainly gets some looks as it’s driving down the road.
“We have hit a few wild balls in the countryside but would like to put this car to good use and may be contacting some golf courses, driving ranges and companies to see how we can use this car to encourage more people to pick up some golf clubs and have a bash!”
That seems like a noble cause and they can even utilize it to improve their own golfing abilities.
John concluded: “Our golf game leaves a lot to be desired. Kurt doesn’t play much at all and although I played golf from a very young age, I have not played in years.”
Replaced!
