Lord Of The Rings TV Series Is Looking To Hire Cast Extras With ‘Character Faces’

To make the orcs and goblins in the Lord of the Rings TV series look as close to the concept as possible, casting agents are searching for people with abnormal body features.

They are looking for people with lesser or more teeth than the normal, too many wrinkles and more than usual body hair.

It means that you don’t need to be exceptionally beautiful to get a chance at the TV, just being exceptional can work. You can indeed be a part of the costliest TV show ever.

The much-awaited show is based on JRR Tolkien’s classic fantasy.

The show’s two casting agents, from Auckland, are searching for different looking people who’d like to play the role of monsters in Amazon’s newest show which is planned to start filming next year.

In plain and simple words, the show is looking for people below 5 ft. and over 6 ft. in height and will be preferring those with ‘character faces’ and ‘wonderful noses,’ as they like to call it.

Now, that’s sorta self-explanatory. Isn’t it?

To be more precise about what they are looking for, the casting agents have announced that they need people with wrinkled faces and ‘hairy people of all ages and ethnicities.’

The casting agency said: “HAIR HAIR HAIR – if you have natural red hair, white hair, or lots and lots of freckles.”

The ad for the positions in the show also asks for ‘stocky mean-looking bikers’, ‘long lithe dancers’ and ‘redheads of all ages, shapes, and sizes.’

And since New Zealand doesn’t have a big population, the agents have opened the doors for everyone in the public to come and apply for the role in the show.

Obviously, no one is going to work for free. The people who are selected to work for the show will get food and accommodation on-site by Amazon and will get $192 a day in compensation.

Now, that is not a bad price to get for working as a goblin or an orc.

The purpose Amazon is looking for strange-looking people and is offering such good compensation is that it will help them save on makeup, prosthetics, and CGI later on.

To get an idea of the sheer amount of money Amazon is putting into the show, just know that they spent $249 million to get the rights of the 2000’s movie by Peter Jackson.

This is the first time the movie is being adapted for a TV Show.
