Aimee Copeland was a happy and hardworking student, working her way to earn masters at the University of Georgia.
Little did she know that one small decision was soon going turn her life upside down.
It all started when Aimee and her friends headed out to have some fun outdoors.
While they were laughing and having a good time together, they came across a makeshift zip-line, and decided to try it.

She was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctor put 22 staples in her calf.
Just when Aimee thought everything was going to be okay, she felt a terrible pain.
When she went back to the hospital, Aimee heard the devastating news: she had contracted a flesh-eating bacteria, and five of her organs were failing.
In order to save her life, doctors amputated all four of her limbs.
Her arms were amputated below the elbow, her right leg below the knee, and her left leg to her hip.

“We are all made with imperfections and there is so much beauty in our flaws. The scars and skin grafting build character! It’s not about what you have – what you do with what you have is what really counts,” added Aimee.
