Andrew Cuomo’s daughter, Michaela Kennedy Cuomo, opened up about her ‘queer’ identity for the first time by releasing a public statement through her social media account.
The news comes just in time as millions of individuals celebrate the month of Pride for the LGBTQ community.
Michaela is Cuomo’s youngest daughter, who shared her unique experience when it came down to discovering her true sexual identity as she called upon a number of other individuals to come out in the open and share their support for the gay community.
The New York Governor’s daughter felt zero hesitation whatsoever in revealing her truth as she elaborated how much joy she felt in celebrating Pride Month while sending her warm wishes to all those that come from a diverse range of sexualities.
The startling statement came via a post through her Instagram account that was released during the afternoon hours on Thursday. Here is where she released a post comprising of two smiley images of herself, donning a baseball cap that read ‘gay for you.’
Michaela extended a helping hand to all those who felt shy or scared to reveal they’re true identity by stating how society tries its level best to enforce a certain identity throughout its members. But she expressed how all those who were afraid were certainly not alone and hence should take this opportunity to come out and share their real identity.
“To all those questioning individuals, please be aware that we all deserve the right to change our minds at any given point in time,” she added.
As far as the embattled New York Governor’s point of view on this matter is concerned, he shared nothing but love, pride, and support over his daughter’s decision by releasing a public statement that revealed just that.
Michaela promised to remain vocal on this sensitive subject, encouraging all of her LGBTQ allies to speak up against the subject of homophobia too.
