“It’s not what you have; it’s what you do with what you have.
” This quote by Sophia Amoruso is actually meant for aspiring businessmen, but couple Clive and Louise Andrews has something else in mind. They invested what little they have on something much more precious than money-making, and those are kids.
Clive and Louise live in Lincolnshire, the UK with their 10 children. Clive is 50 years old while Louise is 34. Their kids’ ages range from 5 months to 17 years old. Yep, Louise had it early and kept it coming with barely-a-year intervals.
Louise is a self-employed part-time cleaner while Clive is the household dad. Their income is only $400 a week while they spend $1,300 monthly for the groceries alone. Needless to say, with all the kids they have, they often fall short on their budget.
The family lives in a house with 6 bedrooms. One, however, is used as a closet. They’d have to fit all 12 of them with the 5 rooms left. And these aren’t big rooms.
If ever the family goes out for a stroll at the mall or the Sunday Mass, they’d have to use two cars. It’s kind of nice for kids to have such option though. Like asking, “Who wants to ride with mom?”
Small families can’t imagine going through challenges as the Andrews do, but Clive and Louise love it. What’s even more astounding is they’re planning to have their 11th baby. Say what!? But for some health concerns on Louise’s part, they need to delay the conception.
Despite the obvious financial limitations, Clive opts to be a full-time stay-at-home dad. You have to understand how many kids they’d have to prepare for school and how much chores there need to be done. One person ought to stay at home.
The family may not be able to afford expensive vacations and celebrate extravagant occasions, but it doesn’t mean they have less fun. It’s actually quite the contrary. With so many of them, surely, every day feels like it’s a family reunion.
Reportedly, when asked why they still want to have more kids, it’s because they simply still have a lot more love to give. The kids, however, are quite divided on that notion. 14-year-old Hallan, for example, loves to have more siblings while 8-year-old Frankie thinks there are enough kids in their house.
For me, if only they could find an additional income to sustain their expenses, and Louise gets perfectly healthy, I’d approve it. They reached that lot might as well go for the record.
