The Maleficent star fought back tears and told college students she was ‘trying not to cry’ when she dropped off 18-year-old Maddox off at Yonsei University in South Korea.
Angelina Jolie appeared emotional but also happy and proud as she wore her hair down while sporting a black lace camisole. She also agreed to be photographed with other students.
One fan, who spoke with the Oscar-winning actress, said Maddox will be living in the dorms and he’s studying bioengineering.
When asked how long she would be staying in Seoul, the 44-year-old star said: “I leave today, today is the day that I drop him off.”
Students groaned with her answer as it seemed they wanted to see more of her.
Angelina then touched her chest as she looked as if she was about to break down in tears. “I know, I’m trying not to cry,” she expressed as she put both her hands up.
She then told the crowd: “Yes it’s time, thank you very much, it seems like a great school. I’m sure you’re all going to like it here.”
Maddox wore a beige sweater, black and white Vans and black slacks as he looked up proudly to his mom.
Angelina asked for one group photo and said they can share it with each other. Other students were also recording the emotional scene.
Richard Choi from Minnesota shared the photo and said: “Thank you miss Jolie for having a 40 seconds conversation with me!”
Maddox has likely already been learning the Korean language. In 2016, his mother said to BBC he was trying Russian and German.
