UN Envoy Angelina Jolie Urged The World To Get Involved In The Syrian Conflict


Hollywood actress and United Nations envoy Angelina Jolie has spoken out about the Syrian conflict and urged the world to get involved and stand up for the “underdog.

As the 44-year-old UN Special Envoy said as she called out politicians and leaders for inaction when it comes to Syria, the consequences of not intervening are “too high.”

According to Jolie, America should act “for our own interest” as it was done in the past with other countries.

The UN envoy spoke out about the inaction in Syria and recalled the devastation she witnessed in the country with her own eyes in an essay for Time.

“Afghanistan and Politicians often imply that we face a choice between open-ended military and diplomatic interventions of the kind we’ve seen in Iraq and Afghanistan, and leaving other countries to fend for themselves, sending whatever amount of humanitarian aid we’re willing to supply, and sealing ourselves off.point 521 |

“History shows that when we fought for the liberation of Europe in World War II, or contributed to building the postwar global order, we did so for our own interests–and we reaped the benefits.

“When America was attacked on 9/11, many countries made common cause with us because we had earned their friendship.”

In her work, the actress has also recalled the time she visited the shaken people of Syria and went on to argue that the number of refugees allowed into the US is too low.

“I hoped that stories like his might force the world’s rich and mighty countries to intervene to stop the violence,” she added.

As she claimed, however, her 10 trips to the devastated country and “years of pleas have gone unanswered.”
