An Instagrammer who is famous for drastically changing her appearance through plastic surgery was arrested for alleged blasphemy.
The Iranian regime-run channel IRTV2 said ‘the madness to become famous on social media has ruined a real life.’
The 22-year-old known as Sahar Tabar faced ”charges including blasphemy, inciting violence, gaining income through inappropriate means and encouraging corruption among the young,” reported Gulf News.
It was said that she altered her face to look like Angelina Jolie but Sahar denied all the claims and said she was inspired by a zombie-like character from the animated movie “Corpse Bride.” She even showed regret of not listening to her mother when she warned her about the extreme changes.
”I do not currently look like my photoshopped pictures,” she told state TV,
”My mother was telling me to stop, but I didn’t listen. Sometimes the words of a stranger or a friend can be more important than those of a parent.”
Some people even have said that Sahar has gone under the knife and had as many as 50 plastic surgeries to change her looks.
Sahar said: “I saw people were following what I did and, when the likes grew, I felt I was doing the right thing,”
“My childhood dream was to be famous.”
According to Gulf News, Sahar admitted that “vulgarity on social media gets a lot of clicks” and if she had not followed this path, she could have been “in a better place right now”.
She was arrested after facing charges including blasphemy, inciting violence, gaining income through inappropriate means and encouraging youths to corruption, the news agency added.
Gulf News reported that ”the television channel said that she was the only child of a divorced couple who had been living with her mother and that she “could have been in university by now” if not because of her “strange” online persona and fame.”
