A passive-aggressive letter has been making rounds on the internet after angry neighbors complained about noisy kids.
In the anonymous letter titled ‘noise complaint’, neighbors of a family from Sydney, Australia, complained about the noise and told the parents to ban their kids from playing outside before 9 in the morning.
“Congratulations on your renovations. Your neighbors have endured many months of construction noise and now we’re being disturbed by your kids in the backyard early in the morning,” the controversial letter that divided the internet read.
“We wish to request that you keep your young kids indoors until 9 am. There have been many occasions in recent times when your kids are out in the backyard early in the morning and they have been very loud and noisy. They are disturbing the peace in the neighborhood and waking people up.”
The letter went on to claim that the children “have very loud voices” and that the little boy of the family “is always screaming at the top of his voice” – sometimes as early as 7.30 in the morning.
“Kids will be kids but I’m simply asking if they can go out later so your neighbors are not awoken too early in the morning. Thank you for your co-operation and appreciate your kind understanding,” the anonymous neighbors added in their letter.
Soon enough, the complaint made it on Facebook where people were left divided. While some voiced support for the family and the children who enjoy playing outside, others suggested that parents should be responsible enough to spot their kids from yelling and waking up neighbors so early in the morning.
“I think parents of young children forget what it’s like to have a healthy and sufficient sleep cycle so they decide that everyone else should suffer with them,” someone wrote.
“Seriously! We are in lockdown. My neighbors have four boys and they are out very early and I feel nothing but compassion for them,” another disagreed. “We all need to show a little patience.”
