An outraged Prince William ‘threw Prince Harry out’ of his royal household, historian Robert Lacey claims.

In his book, he claims that an angry phone call between the feuding brothers ended in the Duke of Sussex hanging up after they had an argument over claims that Meghan Markle left at least one staff suffering post-traumatic stress disorder because of the ‘toxic’ environment.

The Sussexes have firmly denied claims of bullying, saying the Duchess of Sussex was actually the victim of a ‘smear campaign.’

After learning of the allegations, Prince William ‘went ballistic’ and instructed Simon Case, his private secretary, to start dividing their households, the book claims.

In Lacey’s book Battle of Brothers, a friend said: “William threw Harry out.”

The book says that Harry was upset that his brother had considered the allegations credible.

Lacey also said that the dukes’ joint communications secretary, Jason Knauf, had spoken up for royal workers after hearing claims of bullying and mistreatment by Meghan.

Knauf compiled a dossier outlining claims, which was given to the private secretary of the Duke of Cambridge.

Lacey wrote that William, who ‘personally liked’ all the staff, believed that the Duchess of Sussex was ‘fundamentally hostile to the royal system.’

He also claimed that the Duke of Cambridge regarded staff as ‘colleagues to be cherished and for whom he was responsible.’

The document, which the Sussexes have denied, claimed Meghan had bullied to PAs out of their jobs. It also claimed that the former actress seemed intent on ‘always having someone in her sights.’

Knauf also said that he had received reports from people who saw ‘unacceptable behavior’ by the Duchess of Sussex towards a member of staff.

William then confronted Harry in a phone call before the Duke of Sussex hung up, the book claims.

“Harry shut off his phone angrily, so William went to speak to him personally. The prince was horrified by what he had just been told about Meghan’s alleged behaviour, and he wanted to hear what Harry had to say,” Lacey said.

William was ‘appalled’ by what he heard while Harry was hurt that his older brother believed the allegations about Meghan.

Because of the rift, Lacey wrote that William ‘simply did not want her or Harry around anymore.’
