A real-life photo featuring a hidden animal has gone viral after viewers were challenged to spot the giant insect.
In the picture below, you will see a series of broken tree sticks and twigs. But somewhere in there, there is also a very big insect! Can you spot it in under one minute?
The amazing picture was taken by Michael Blencowe and shared on Twitter by Sussex Wildlife Trust.
“This is an excellent photo for our mimics and impressionists themed week. Who is a twig & who is a buff-tip moth in this photo? Brilliant aren’t they?” the trust wrote.
But the question remains… Did you already spot the hidden animal?
Now’s your final chance to crack the mystery because the solution is coming right up. Perhaps, one of the branches isn’t what it appears to be at first sight?
That’s right! One of the twigs is actually a big buff-tip moth that is perfectly camouflaged among the sticks!
After the photo went viral, people were quick to share their enthusiasm over the animal that evolved this way to stay hidden from predators.
“We had one of these on our house this week. My partner said ‘There’s a log on the window,’” someone wrote.
“Amazing! We found one in our house a couple of years ago and really thought it was a twig but luckily didn’t tread on it,” another added.
The third wrote: “My son found one on his way home from school, it was laying on the pavement. He carried it home on his blazer sleeve and put it safely in the garden.”
Buff-tip moths belong to the Notodontidae family and can be found across Europe and Asia. Adults may have a wingspan of up to three inches. Their bodies resemble broken twigs to avoid detection by predators.
