A pet pig named Elvis Pigsley was apprehended by the police while wandering around the streets after running away from home.
Elvis is a stout young pig from Anchorage, Alaska, who enjoys spending time in the warm home he shares with his owner, Angela Mullen-Herrera.
While Mr. Pigsley typically prefers the comfort of his home, he often tries to escape his house to see the world and go on adventures of his own.
“He’s gone on all sorts of adventures. He’s a big escape artist. I’ve had to lure him back with apple slices before,” Angela admitted in an interview with The Dodo.
One day, the stocky pig decided to face the winter cold and explore his neighborhood without Angela’s knowledge or permission only to get lost in the snowstorm.
Fortunately, Elvis was spotted by the local police just before dark. Refusing to disobey orders, the pig jumped into the back of the police car and received a free ride back home thanks to his good manners.
“He looks very impressed with himself. I’m sure he loved the experience,” Angela added after seeing a photo of her companion grinning at the camera from inside the police cruiser.
“He [my husband] told me it went well and that the police were very nice and understanding.”
Taking to the internet to announce the good ending was also the Fairview, Anchorage, police who couldn’t help but see the funny side of the incident.
“As it turns out, the portly dude was quite friendly,” a spokesperson said.
“You’ll be happy to know he has been reunited with his family and all is well. Would you like to know the best part? His name. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Elvis… Elvis Pigsley.”
