A family has broken down emotionally after finding out that they lost the legal battle to save their loving pet dog from death row.
Owners of the pet Husky had appealed to the court of law in New Zealand to intervene and help in sparing their dog’s life.
And that’s because local media outlets spoke about how the dog bolted nearly 300m when he was left off of its leash. Things took a turn for the worst when the pet dog went on to attack several small animals.
The dog happened to kill a guinea pig named Bert and a chicken while he was going out with his owners on a beach walk.
But his devastated owners say that it was all a mistake, adding how their pet Husky named Aspen would never harm anyone.
The Siberian Husky is under the ownership of Alexandra and Graham Johnston. He had been ordered by the court to be destroyed after a decision unanimously voted against him after the deadly crime was committed.
The district court spoke in detail about how it was so wrong of the owners to let the untrained dog off of his leash in the first place, as he lacked any training of being dealt with in that manner.
Moreover, they even spoke about how the dog did not have any knowledge about the ‘return on command’ act and that is what led to this uneventful incident in the first place.
The punishment that was given to the dog comprised of 18 months of living inside a pound cage and ultimately his life, in the end, as revealed by media sources.
In a desperate attempt to save their pup, the Johnstons who reside in New Zealand went on to file a plea in the high court, hoping for a miracle against the death row but sadly it has been rejected, leaving the family lost for words and shattered.
