Pet owners are guilty of spoiling their pets but one man who wanted to throw a party for this loyal pooch has been slammed online after he invited 5,000 people and prepared a 100kg cake.
Shivappa Yellappa Maradi from India wanted to make his labrador’s day extra special with 5,000 guests and a huge delicious treat.
He also booked live music for the lavish party and ordered chickens for the guests to eat.
After the party in Karnataka, videos of the celebrations have gone viral on social media. But viewers were left divided, with many slamming the dog owner for the way he held the dog up when guests were singing to him and also for the excess foods.
In the video, the owner can be seen letting his pooch named Krish dip his nose into the giant cake. The adorable pup sported a purple cap while looking baffled by the situation.
When it was time to sing happy birthday to Krish, his dog owner lifted him up.
One video has been viewed over 149,000 times. One person commented: “Clearly, he’s not enjoying it.”
Another wrote: “All this is done clearly to gain fame. He doesn’t even know how to hold the dog properly. The dog is so uncomfortable and looks scared too. And coming to the cake, I hope it was specially ordered for the dog and not the regular cake that we humans eat.”
A third said: “I appreciate the gesture but he should also realise that dogs aren’t supposed to eat cake which is edible by humans.”
But others enjoyed the video, with one person commenting: “I support him, but he should know how to hold his pet dog.”
