We do a number of things to our dogs because we love them and want to show our affections.
Scientists have proven that our pets don’t always like when we do certain things to them. For example, they may not be the biggest fans of constant hugging or teasing, and may only tolerate such behavior because they care about us so much.
Below are things that dogs dislike and we should avoid doing them.
#1.
Constant HuggingResearch revealed that 81.
6% of the dogs tested showed signs of stress or anxiety when they were hugged.7.
6% of them enjoyed this activity, while the response of 10. 8% of the dogs was neutral. The most common signs of stress included flattened ears, sad eyes (you can see the whites of the eyes) or, on the contrary, closed eyes and a head turned away to avoid eye contact with a hugger.
#2.
Rushing WalksDuring a walk, a dog doesn’t only take a bathroom break but also discovers the world and socializes.
This is a great opportunity to play and exercise outside while breathing in fresh air alongside their beloved owners which they don’t get to do while staying at home.
So let your dog enjoy its walks and don’t rush back from a walk.
#3.
Ignoring Dog TrainingAll creatures, even people, need rules to avoid chaos.
Dogs need training and to follow rules that can’t be broken.Otherwise, your dog can turn into a spoiled, lazy pet, who will eat your favorite pair of shoes.
For example, your dog must know its name and commands like, “sit,” “heel,” “stay,” “wait,” “off,” and “no”.During training, the owner-
- builds a healthy positive relationship with the dog.
- teaches the dog how to behave in society and interact with others.
- improves the communication skills of the dog.
- gives the dog enough exercises to keep its muscles toned and provides emotional release.

Yelling At Your Dog As PunishmentSometimes it’s impossible not to shout when your dog wrong again and again.
But yelling won’t help you get anything from your dog.
If you use a loud voice, your pet just confuses the teaching with punishment. So if your dog did something wrong instead of a punishment, try to have a conversation using a stern tone.
#5.
Scaring Your Dog With Loud NoisesFear is a big problem for all dogs.
Some of them are even born with a genetic predisposition to this feeling. If they don’t get used to certain sounds from an early age, it may lead to psychological traumas in the future that can be fixed only with the help of a professional.
These sounds include toaster or microwave sounds, fireworks, a running vacuum cleaner or a hairdryer. If your pet got scared by a sound, it’s better to distract it with a treat and explain that there’s nothing dangerous about it later.
#6.
Making Your Dog Play With Your Friends When It Doesn’t Like ThemNo matter what kind of good friends you have, your pet can dislike them.
In this case, you shouldn’t force it to give in or to put up with touching.
Your dog will try to protect itself and you from a possible threat even if danger doesn’t exist. So when you’re with new people, pay attention to gestures and movements of your pet such as whether it tries to hide behind you, roars, or just turns away and doesn’t allow them to touch.
#7.
Teasing Your Dog For FunYour dog may see teasing as a game at first, but it will eventually realize that something is wrong.
For example, like if you call it over to presumably give it something to eat but end up giving it nothing.
You may pull its tail because it’s trying to protect itself in a funny way. Or you just make fun of your pet all the time. This is a sure way to lose your dog’s trust and authority in the long run.
#8.
Making Your Dog Stay In Places With Strong SmellsA dog can differentiate and remember around 1 million smells even if they come from a long distance.
You should appreciate this special ability.
Some smells can cause deterioration of the sense of smell or cause nervous system dysfunction. When you clean your house with chlorine or use too many fragrances, it’s better to keep your dog in another room and give it a toy or a treat to keep it occupied. What other things do you think that people shouldn’t do to their dogs?
