No matter how hard life can hit you, if you face it with courage and optimism life will also throw you precious moments that can be treasured for the blessings that they are.
Tom Garrett faced a particularly difficult life. Just when he was at the brink of starting a promising hockey career, he was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 14. Fortunately, he was able to successfully fight cancer with a combination of medications, surgeries, medical procedures, and other treatments. Every day for the next four years of Tom’s life saw him giving everything he had and succeeded, although without huge cost to himself.

A bone marrow transplant saved Tom’s life but now had to deal with graft versus host disease caused by his immune system attacking his whole body. The medication needed to control this condition had other side effects such as pain.
Now 28 years old, Tom’s grit inspired not only his family but his friends and others in his community.point 196 | One of Tom’s friends is a police officer named Dave.point 245 |
One day, Dave happened to be on duty at a traffic stop when he happened upon a collection of supercars making their way through Peterborough, Ontario, for a car rally segment being filmed by Vice.point 162 | com.point 166 | 1
During that stop, Dave met “Ghostrider,” a member of the North Face Rally car club. As it turned out, Ghostrider, who wished to remain anonymous, was a legend in the car scene, known not just for his supercars but also for his generosity.
A viral video later came out that showed Ghostrider convincing Dave to take his Lamborghini Huracan for a spin. But the two also talked of other matters and Ghostrider asked Dave what he could do to help with the community.
Knowing how Tom was a big fan of exotic cars, Dave asked the philanthropist if he could take Tom for a spin in the Lamborghini. Dave was expecting Ghostrider to be the one to pick up Tom but surprised Dave by loaning him the Lamborghini and telling him to take Tom out for the next five days.
Dave decided to surprise Tom by saying he was going to pick him up but without saying he’ll be arriving in a Lamborghini.
Tom’s surprise and happiness at seeing a supercar on his driveway were just precious. After Tom squeezed himself into the passenger seat, Dave roared away to take Tom on the drive of his life.
But that wasn’t the end because Ghostrider followed up by sending Ferraris, more Lamborghinis, and even a Rolls Royce so that Tom could experience riding all of them.
What a wonderful man who has incredible generosity and a kind heart!
