An organization called “The World Needs More Love letters” sends anonymous love letters to lonely people to uplift them.
The founder of the organization, Hannah Brencher, was experiencing loneliness and depression and started writing her feelings in her journal.
She then started writing anonymous love letters on the #4 Subway Train while looking at strangers.
She would leave the love letters around New York City bookstores, coffee shops and libraries for lonely people.
Hannah, who founded “The World Needs More Love letters” in 2011, said: “I always say that it was all a complete accident”.
The inspiring organization now sends hundreds of anonymous love letters to people who are lonely to remind them that they are not alone and they matter.
According to the organization’s website, one woman’s husband requested a bundle of letters for his wife Maria as she was going through a difficult time.
Another letter request was from a daughter for her mother Terri who was experiencing some transitions in life and was in need of encouragement.
One friend requested a love letter for her friend Alexa who had been dealing with many of life’s struggles.
The anonymous love letters have spread to over 70 countries since 2011. Now, people around the world contribute letters just to brighten up someone’s day.

Hannah, who lives in Atlanta with her husband Lane, is a TED Speaker, a blogger, and an author. Her books “Come Matter Here” and “If You Find This Letter” are in bookstores across the country.
The inspiring organization that she created is making people hopeful and making them feel they are valued.
