An anti-vaxx mother was slammed after asking the internet for advice on how to stop her son from getting himself vaccinated after he turns 18.
The question follows days after another teenager from Ohio, Ethan Lindenberger, went against his anti-vaxx mum’s wishes and got himself vaccinated.
Ethan was seen testifying before The US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and imploring the need for vaccinations.
“I approached my mother numerous times trying to explain that vaccines are safe and that my family should be vaccinated, approaching even with articles from the CDC explicitly claiming that ideas that vaccines cause autism and extremely dangerous consequences were incorrect,” Ethan said. Every time Ethan confronted his mother, however, she simply told him that “that’s what they want you to think.”
Back to the story at hand, the anti-vaxx mom in question posted her worries on Reddit under the topic r/nostupidquestions where she wrote:
“I found out that my son is going to try and get himself vaccinated when he turns 18 in a month. How can I stop him?”
Instead of receiving an answer that she was hoping for, however, the mother was quickly shut down by other people.
“Be proud that you have raised a son who is more intelligent than you,” one person said.
“Wow! He lived 18 years without vaccination? Congratulations! He is really a lucky one. Not in the way that he has a mother that risks his life for all his childhood (by not vaccinating him). Luckily, he is turning into an adult who has a working brain,” another one added.
One person commented:
“Take him to the doctor and get him vaccinated. That’s the only way you can stop him from getting his well overdue vaccinations when he turns 18. At the same time you should probably consider how you should apologize for not caring enough about him to risk his life for 18 years. Every damn day of it.”
