President Joe Biden has confirmed how the Taliban would assist in the evacuation of any American citizens as well as US allies after the August 31st deadline comes to an end.
On Thursday, Biden claimed that he firmly believed and had confidence that the Taliban would work with the Americans because it was in their keen interest. Also, the President confirmed how he certainly did not believe that they were good guys. But at the same time, he felt that their assistance in evacuations after August 31st would be helpful for them too.
“The Taliban are helping us because they want the Americans to leave as soon as possible,” the President reiterated. Moreover, Biden also spoke about how the US would not back out on its promise of leaving the war-torn nation of Afghanistan by August 31st.
Biden also cleared the air, mentioning how US withdrawal of troops by the deadline would occur but that does not mean the evacuation process of our citizens and allies would stop.point 267 |
“The Taliban has been in war with America for nearly two decades, and that’s why I believe they would likely assist with the evacuations and departure of those left behind,” he added.point 170 | 1
The President explained that the Taliban would benefit from working by America’s side, both economically, while also keeping in mind the dangling threat of sanctions that looms over their nation.
But many critics believe that the current US President may be too far ahead of himself in this case. And that’s because all recent appointments made with the Taliban and their leading members have resulted in utter disappointment, and proved how Biden may be too optimistic about their presence and assistance.
At the moment, the US is continuing with its massive evacuation mission as it safely brings back all US citizens, green card holders, as well as Afghans who have worked with US troops during the past 20 years.
