Archeologists believe and claim they have found the town of Emmaus in the form of Biblical ruins.
This is the same town where Jesus is said to appear in front of apostles as he came back to life after death.
An excavation project that was conducted by the Collège de France and Tel Aviv University together at Kiriath-Jearim.
On the hill in the outskirts of Village Abu Ghosh, near Jerusalem, the archeologists found ruins that date 2,220 years.
The ruins are believed to be of a town that Professor Israel Finkelstein says was the same town of Emmaus where Jesus had appeared.
Professor says that the town has appeared and reappeared several times in the past. He says that they believe it is the same town because the ruins match the description that has been given in Luke 24:13-35.
As the fortification, if the town happened about 6-7 miles away from Jerusalem and the ruins are found in the same position.
Although they have found quite some proof but the archeologists are still not sure if the ruins are of Emmaus.
An ancient history professor from Tel Aviv University, Benjamin Isaac, says that Finkelstein and Römer are both great at what they do and have built a strong case geographically, archaeologically, and topographically, but this does not change the fact that the discovery is on the basis of a hypothesis and it will stay the same.
Professor Finkelstein says that the ruins indicate their role in the long term and has been there since the Iron Age.
As per that and the factor of geographical closeness, Romer says that there is a good chance that this is the same land that Jesus appeared on which has a reference in the Bible too.
We still wait for the confirmation of the hypothesis.
