When you are passionate about something then you don’t think twice to turn your dream into reality.
The same happened with a talented architect who turned an underground public restroom into the house of her dreams.
An English architect named Laura Clark specializes in residential conversions, extensions, and new buildings. She collaborated with other artists and designers to design her own furniture and interior items.
She has bagged several awards for her creativity. Laura spotted abandoned lavatories in 2005 when she moved to London. ”I’ve always loved the idea of micro-regeneration,”
”For me, that’s about saving sites with an interesting history of which have been abandoned and forgotten,” she told The Telegraph.
Laura received a mixed reaction when she told her friends and family that she has a plan to turn used public toilets into a one-bedroom flat. The restrooms that were built in 1929 and were last used in the 1980’s.
The workers and builders helped Laura to create the home of her dreams. ”I ended up doing a lot of the laboring work myself because it was such horrid, hard work that I struggled to keep people on the job,” said Laura.
It took several months to complete the project and $65,000 were spent on it. The place which was known as an abandoned public lavatory before turned into a stylish one-bedroom flat filled with light and color.
The bedroom is of red and golden colors with a kind of a canopy bed and a full-sized mirror. Apart from the bedroom, it has a living room with bookshelves, a kitchen with all the necessary equipment and even a small garden.
Laura has definitely turned her dream into reality and we appreciate her for this. This unbelievable transformation was possible because Laura didn’t give up and continued working on it.
