The Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has met with the 16-year-old eco-warrior, Greta Thunberg, whom he introduced to his daughter Christina as the two went for a bicycle ride.
The 72-year-old former Governor of California has been showing his support for the young climate change activist for months and even lent her his electric Tesla car so that she could travel around North America.
As the two met in Santa Monica for a bicycling adventure, they posed for several pictures which they later shared on their Instagram accounts.
“It was fantastic to see my friend and one of my heroes @gretathunberg last week and go on a bike ride around Santa Monica together and I was so pumped to introduce her to my daughter Christina. Keep inspiring, Greta!” Arnold wrote.
The get-together followed shortly after the 16-year-old speaker met with actor Leonardo DiCaprio who has been taking great interest in environmental preservation during recent years.
While some of Leo’s initiatives were heavily praised, however, the actor faced a major backlash after it was revealed he flies in private jets, which goes against his preaching, to attend events.
In his Instagram post from the time of their meeting, Leonardo called Greta a “leader of our time” and said she and other like-minded people are the reason why he is “optimistic about what the future holds.”
“There are few times in human history where voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time,” the actor wrote.
“History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same livable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted. I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over.
“It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds. It was an honor to spend time with Greta. She and I have made a commitment to support one another, in hopes of securing a brighter future for our planet.”
