As of March 19th, one of the victims from a violent crime has been given a gofundme page created by her grandson, John Chen, in order to recover from the trauma.
The money raised had reached up to $600,000 by more than 20,000 donors for Asian elder, Xiao Zhen Xie. The funds that are raised will cover her therapy treatment, medical expenses, and any other occurring bills under her name.
As of March 22nd, it has increased to a whopping $884,000 dollars and is still being spread out through friends, families, and those who have heard the news about Xiao Zhen Xie.
Xiao Zhen Xie suffered from a hate attack in San Fransisco, being left with “two serious black eyes and one that is bleeding unstoppably. Her wrist has also swelled up. She has been severely affected mentally, physically, and emotionally,” according to her grandson, John Chen.
Steven Jenkins, a 39-year old white man, was the cause of this violent attack but she fought back after being punch, using a stick and battering the man, yelling, “You bum! Why did you hit me?”
Xiao Zhen Xie updates the situation with San Fransisco’s station, KPIX, that she had been leaning against a pole while waiting for the traffic light. There were no intentions of her to attack anyone until the culprit, Steven Jenkins, had punched her out of the blue.
Looking around, the woman picks up a plank and fights back, sending him to the hospital.
Since then, she has been left with PTSD, getting extremely emotional and worked up while tears start to calm her down. Another side effect after calming her down is that she still gets dizzy, unable to eat anything other than porridge.
Not only was this a traumatic event for the woman, but Steven Jenkins goes after another unprovoked attack towards a Vietnamese man.
Ngoc Pham, the man who had been attacked by Jenkins, had suffered with cuts and major bruises from falling on his head. Like Xiao Zhen Xie, there has also been a gofundme created for the man.
