Aston Martin has announced that their new hypercar Valhalla will be used in the upcoming James Bond movie.

According to Mail Online and This is Money, the $1.9 million (£1.5 million) 200 mph-plus hybrid car will be one of the three Aston Martins to be starred alongside Daniel Craig in the latest 007 movie.

The supercar, code-named AM-RB 003, is named after the Viking legend of the ‘warriors’ paradise’ – a place to which the souls of the bravest warriors slain in battle will go.

Its name also continues the more than seven decades’ old tradition of the company naming its supercars with a word starting from the letter ‘V.’

As the third hypercar in the mid-engined line-up of the British manufacturer, the new Valhalla follows the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro.

The hypercar’s variable aerofoil across the rear wing has been created by cutting-edge aerospace technology and was flight-tested by NASA to make sure the Valhalla stays grounded at all times.

It also features more space in its interior as compared to the Valkyrie.

A terrace behind the seats is used to provide the luggage space while a widened center console has created more room between driver and passenger.

The vehicle also boasts stowage areas for oddments like a phone, wallet, or even Bond’s Walther PPK.

A new specially-designed turbocharged V6 petrol engine, connected with a battery-electric hybrid system and speculated to be a 3.0-liter unit, will power the vehicle.

Aston Martin Valhalla will be the company’s first car to get their new hybrid turbo V6 engine.

The supercar will have the power to go from rest to 60 mph in under three seconds, thanks to its high 1,000 bhp power output – equivalent to 10 Ford Fiestas.

Aston Martin developed the hypercar in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies.

The supercar will be seen in the next 007 movie – currently being referred to as ‘Bond 25’ and scheduled to release in April 2020. It will be replacing the Aston Martin DB10 used in Spectre.

‘Employing lightweight construction methods and radical aerodynamics pioneered in Valkyrie, Valhalla will be propelled by a combination of high-efficiency, high-output turbocharged V6 petrol engine and battery-electric hybrid system,’ Aston Martin said about their Valhalla program being run at the new Aston Martin Advanced Performance Centre in Milton Keynes.point 439 | 1

‘Named after the warrior’s paradise celebrated in ancient Norse mythology, Valhalla follows Valkyrie on Aston Martin’s journey into the highest echelons of road car performance.

‘In continuing the fine tradition of Aston Martin “V” cars, Valhalla can trace its lineage back to 1951, when the Vantage designation was given to high-performance variants of the then current model, the DB2.

‘Though actual Vantage badging was never applied, the name stuck.’

The firm said: ‘Together with the recently announced Vanquish Vision Concept, Valhalla continues this proud, seven decade old ‘V’ car naming strategy, providing an evocative and powerful moniker fit for one of the world’s most compelling ultra-high performance cars.’

Speaking to Mail Online and This is Money, Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda president and group chief executive officer, said: ‘Aston Martin model names always attract a lot of attention.

‘They do so because they invariably capture an emotion or tell a story.

‘In following the Valkyrie we knew the Aston Martin Valhalla needed to make a strong statement of its own, yet also offer continuity and a clear connection.

‘Norse mythology contains such powerful language and rich storytelling it felt only right that the AM-RB 003 should follow the Valkyrie’s theme.

‘For those fortunate enough to own one I’m sure they will recognize and appreciate the name’s connotations of glory and happiness, for there can be few more hallowed places than the driver’s seat of an Aston Martin Valhalla.’
