While tourists stay at home, these Australian scuba tour operators are planting coral reefs.

Similar to any other place in the world, Australia’s tourism economy has also experienced an abrupt halt. The tour boats across the country are fixed in the harbors.

However, some companies have planned to repurpose the empty vessels and staff by initiating coral restoration missions across the Great Barrier Reef.

He added that his company has been working closely with the team of Dr. David Sugett from the University of Technology in Sydney. The team is presently performing reef resilience research at one of the reef sites.

Scott said that he has been working along with Russel Hosp, the Passions of Paradise Environmental Sustainability Coordinator. He even visited sites many times to record the data for the project and to set the coral nursery.

As of now, the team has planted around 1000 coral pieces on Hasting Reef under the coral nurture program. When the tours reopen, people will be welcomed by healthier marine life.
